How it works
- Save the message as a file. In WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram, press and hold the message and choose Share or Forward. The exact steps depend on the app and your phone.
- Open Stillscript. It works best in Chrome or Edge on a computer. The first time, your browser downloads the speech recognition once, which can take a while.
- Drop in the file. After a short wait, the message appears as text. You can copy it or save it as a file.
Why use it if your messaging app transcribes?
Some messaging apps now transcribe voice messages themselves. Stillscript helps when you need more: You keep the text in your browser, search it later and save it as a file. It also works with long recordings and memos that aren't in any messaging app.
What it costs
60 minutes per month are free with no sign-up. For voice messages, that usually goes a long way. If you need more, see our pricing.
Good to know
- Mistakes can happen. Background noise, accents and names can throw off the text. If it matters, listen again.
- Other people's messages are private. Don't pass the text on without their consent.
- It works for other recordings too. You can do the same with memos, meetings and videos if everyone involved agreed to the recording.
